Good Morning!
Today is going to be another hot one for sure. But it makes for a good day to stay in the cool and work on my new business venture. Grammy Cakes started as just an idea for coming up with something different to bring to a bridal or baby shower…something that people would oooh and ahhh over. I started giving them as gifts to family and friends and they went over great. So, I thought I would see if I could sell them. Well, it is my second week of having my website up and still nothing. I know there is alot of competition out there though. I have been doing my research and the market is flooded with all different designs and styles. I guess I am going to have to come up with something unique. The towel cakes are going to be hard to sell I think because the materials to make them cost so much. I only want to use the better towels and the best ribbons and the best flowers, but my goodness after all that I end up not making very much to keep the cost down and still at that it is higher than most can afford I think. But if I use cheaper product they wont look as nice and wont be as appreciated. Who doesnt prefer a big fluffy towel over a thin not as absorbent one. So we shall see. I guess I am not going to be able to rely on this as an income and go find an outside job. ugh. my whole purpose in starting this is so I can stay home and watch my grandson while my daughter works so we wouldnt have to put him in daycare. Maybe I am just getting discouraged. I will press on. It takes some time to get a business going and it isnt a product people actually need, so it will take longer I suppose. I submitted my site to the search engines but I understand now that it can take up to 6 weeks before it shows up in their searches. My goodness it has been an ordeal with the whole website. I have had to learn all the coding and that is just the basic html and some javascript. Their is so much more advanced coding out there, but this is good…for me anyways…it is keeping my mind busy and that is key to keeping young.
